Omron Healthcare has unveiled its ambitious plan to erect a state-of-the-art facility in Tamil Nadu, located in the vibrant southern region of India. This cutting-edge factory will be solely dedicated to manufacturing advanced blood pressure monitors. Operations are slated to kick off in March 2025, marking a momentous milestone for the company. With an investment of approximately $14.81 million, Omron Healthcare envisions an impressive production target of around 3 million units within the initial three years. Despite the surge in lifestyle-related ailments fueled by India’s robust economic and population growth, the adoption rate of blood pressure monitors has stagnated at a mere 2%. To address this gap, Omron Healthcare is steadfast in its commitment to bolstering the local supply chain and ensuring widespread availability.
Spanning an expansive area of approximately 24,000 square meters, the state-of-the-art facility is scheduled to break ground in August. This landmark establishment will proudly stand as Omron Healthcare’s sixth production base, solidifying the company’s stronghold in the industry. Formerly, blood pressure monitors manufactured in China and Vietnam were imported to cater to the Indian market. However, the inception of this new facility signifies a monumental shift towards localized production and enhanced accessibility.
